2. Renovated Church

2. Renovated Church

3350 Willamette Street

Construction began in July on the former Cascade Presbyterian Church in south Eugene slated to be the new home for 13 homeless teenage girls by winter. St. Vincent de Paul decided to renovate the church, instead of demolishing and rebuilding. As an active local waste-based business, SVDP knew the choice to use the existing structure would not only save the organization money, but also conserve natural resources, reduction pollution, and lessen the burden of construction and demolition waste in our local landfill. The renovation will include 14 small efficiency apartments, community space, kitchen, laundry room, computer lab, and more.

Highlights:

  • $625K awarded through federal HOME grant funds to rehabilitate affordable housing
  • 14 small efficiency apartments
  • Converted sanctuary includes full service kitchen, laundry room, counseling office, computer lab, interior bike storage
  • Blow-in attic insulation
  • New CFL and LED lighting fixtures
  • Future plans for community garden beds
*Please do not visit the sites before 10 a.m. on Sunday.
