BRING Gallery's mission is to showcase the creative efforts of artists that aim to improve our relationship with the natural world through the use of reclaimed materials and by addressing pressing environmental issues in their art.

John Paul Garder
June 6th – July 25th, 2008

Working with large scale drawings and living grass, Gardner creates an installation landscape that explores natural and artificial forms from a human perspective. By examining, reinterpreting and questioning relationships between our natural and built environments, Gardner’s installations challenge the lines between interior and exterior space. The work touches on themes of human control, idealized beauty, and the relationship between architecture and the natural world, ultimately striving to answer: what is nature?

John Paul Gardner is currently working on his MFA in sculpture at the University of Oregon. He graduated with a BFA from the State University of New York College at Potsdam and has received numerous awards and honors for his art.
