Earth Day Art & Writing Contest
Kids get a special place at this year’s Earth Day Celebration with an Art &
Writing Contest addressing the question: WHAT PART OF THE EARTH IS MOST
SACRED TO YOU? In words or images, show what is most special to youis
it a place, an object, a system, or something else? Ideas for preserving
this sacredness are also encouraged.
Submissions of artwork, essays, and/or creative poetry or prose are being
accepted until April 13, 2007. Great prizes will be given to winners
including $50 to each age group: K-2nd, 3rd-5th, 6th-8th, 9th-12th.
Individual or group work is acceptable.
Submissions can be sent through Lane ESD courier system (attn: Lori) or to
BRING (attn: Jo), PO Box 885, Eugene, OR 97440.
Be sure this information is included:
1) student’s name
2) teacher or parent’s name and contact info (email or phone #)
3) school or program
4) grade level
Select contestants will also have the opportunity to present their work to

The 8th Annual Earth Day Celebration is on Saturday, April 21, 2007, 11:00 a.m. to
5:00 p.m., at EWEB’s River Edge Plaza. It’s free and open to all ages. The theme
this year is “The Spirit of Sustainability,” which the Art & Writing Contest
will reflect.
Winners from the Youth Writers’ Association will also be sharing their work
at the event.
